Spot Color Bus Tour Starts
9/18/2008

Gurnee, IL, (Press Release), September 18, 2008 — Step out your front door, step onto the bus and see firsthand how you can save up to 40 percent in ink costs. That’s the message GFI Innovations is taking to printers in more than 70 cities with on-site demonstrations of its unique Mx6 Series Ink Formulation Dispensers.

“Spot Color at Your Fingertips” is the theme for this aggressive road show bus tour in partnership with FUJIFILM Graphic Systems U.S.A and Van Son Holland Ink. The first bus visited cities in Indiana last week and will make 16 other stops east of the Mississippi River, traveling the week of September 22 in Michigan. It will work its way through Ohio and upstate New York to Boston.

The second Tour bus will visit printers in 17 locations west of the Mississippi, starting September 23 with on-site demonstrations in Madison, Wis. The bus exteriors have been wrapped in colorful graphics said Fujifilm’s Mike Borne, vice president of pressroom sales, who indicated that Fujifilm pressroom specialists will take the lead in lining up specific printers for demonstrations. Printers who want to participate can contact their Fujifilm area representative for details. Updates and additional information will be posted on our web site.

“Printers don’t have much extra time during the day to leave their shops for product demonstrations,” Borne said. “We recognize that and have decided to bring the products right to their doorstep. They only have to walk out into their own parking lot.”

Demonstrations will show how the Mx6 dispenser puts “Spot Color at Your Fingertips,” enabling quick, easy and accurate in-house spot- and special-color ink formulation. The patented Mx6 dispensing process, its ink control system, quick-change Accurex cylinders and innovative software, all combine to save printers time and money. In a matter of minutes, a printer will see how the Mx6 can save up to 40 percent in ink costs when compared to buying from an outside supplier. All of this can be done without the hassle and minus the expense of making more ink than they really need.

“Many printers have already been exposed to this kind of technology. When they see the Mx6 actually dispense ink and how easy it is to operate, it makes it easy for them to envision it working for them,” said John Borkovec, GFI director of sales & marketing. “The live demonstrations validate all the claims being made about it, and it ties the advantages right to the machine and to their shop.

“We had great success in partnering with Fujifilm earlier this year during a series of static presentations in 27 cities nationwide. That’s why we decided to go out on the road in a much broader scale with this tour. We understand time is money, especially in today’s economy. By taking the demonstration directly to the printer, we can show them the technology first hand. I am confident we will see an even greater interest in our technology than when we did our first tour with Fujifilm,” Borkovec said.

Joe Bendowski, president and CEO of Van Son Holland Ink USA, notes the Mx6 is an ideal vehicle to dispense their premium quality inks. “Our formulation database makes the GFI dispenser 95 percent accurate the first time. The key is the software matching the color of the ink and the consistency of the ink, so that every time a batch is made, it’s the same. We joined GFI early in their development of this unit and we use the dispenser in our own mixing center in New York,” said Bendowski.

“This unit offers tremendous cost savings to our customers,” says Fujifilm’s Borne. “It helps decrease existing shelf inventory and gives them an opportunity to make only the amount of ink they need, therefore eliminating the all too common scenario of buying 5 pounds when only 3 are needed. The Mx6 technology will change the way printers do business.”
