New Automated Formulation Dispenser Receives Industry Award for "Excellence in Innovation"

GURNEE, IL - GFI Innovations, Inc. is pleased to announce being named recipient of the prestigious 2006 InterTech(TM) Technology Award for Innovative Excellence for its new Mx6 Magnum ™ automated formulation dispenser. Chosen by The Printing Industries of America/Graphic Arts Technical Foundation (PIA/GATF), InterTech award recipients exemplify significant technological innovation within the graphic communications industry. Based on patent-pending technology, the Mx6 Magnum™ is an automated formulation. dispenser designed for high-precision, high-speed mixing and dispensing of high-viscosity paste inks. The first of its kind, this affordable and compact machine allows commercial printers to mix and dispense spot colors in-house, and on-demand.
No other dispenser/formulator approaches the speed, accuracy, and consistency of the new Mx6 Magnum™ - even when compared to conventional machines costing four times the price. Now, for the first time, commercial printers, ink manufacturer's branches, and ink distributors have a truly affordable way to mix and dispense spot colors themselves.
The Mx6 Magnum™ handles a viscosity range of 50 - 50,000 cps, for hybrid sheetfed, conventional sheetfed, UV sheetpress and letterpress printing. It dispenses a 5-lb batch of ink in 5-8 minutes, with an accuracy of ±0.002-lb.
The machine uses GFI's disposable AccureX (TM) Precision Dispensing Cylinders, which can be changed out literally within seconds. And, since the Mx6™ has no conventional pumps, nor any whetted plumbing, ink types can be switched from Conventional Sheetfed to UV Paste - or back - in about 10 minutes.
The machine's high accuracy and consistency reduce labor costs, press adjustments, downtime, wasted ink, and the need to purchase extra ink. It also can turn old inventory into new spot colors. The resulting cost savings mean that the Mx6 can pay for itself in as little as six months. As one of the PIA/GATF judges states, "For a shop our size, this is something that offers fast payback."
