North American leader to sell dynamic Ink Formulation Dispenser and new automated Proofing System
Gurnee, IL – November 25, 2008 — After two years of success with a unique Ink Formulation Dispenser and the recent debut of an automated proofing system, GFI Innovations is taking the next step of delivering their products to the marketplace. The company has signed an agreement with xpedx®, the leading distributor of paper, graphic supplies and equipment to the U.S. printing industry. The distribution agreement is effective immediately.

As xpedx expands their roster of pressroom consumable products and with GFI’s commitment to developing leading edge technology, the timing is right for both companies to move forward together.
“Printers are searching for ways to service their customers more profitably and utilizing this technology is one way to achieve that goal,” said Dennis Killion, director of marketing, Graphics for xpedx.
The Mx6 Ink Formulation Dispenser has a patented, automated dispensing process, ink control system, quick-change Accurex® cylinders and innovative software. It typically saves up to 40 percent in spot color ink costs and 95 percent on labor to make those colors. Printers now can bring ink mixing capabilities in-house and on-demand 24/7, and avoid ordering too much of a particular PMS color.
“This has created the ‘infamous wall of ink’ in many print shops across America,” Killion said. “We believe the Mx6 dispenser will be effective at reducing waste, freeing up valuable storage space, and improving the ink-mixing process.”
xpedx will also distribute the ProProof automated proofing system, ProProof generates proofs through consistent pressure and speed, controlling how much pressure the roller applies to the substrate and the speed on the paper. Simple to operate, it offers a small footprint (20.6” x 17” x 17”), easy clean-up, and repeatedly replicates the quality of the ink on the substrate to be used on the press.

Both products are featured on GFI’s “Spot Color at Your Fingertips” bus tour, a 70-city joint venture with FUJIFILM Graphic Systems U.S.A and Van Son Holland Ink that is currently visiting printers throughout the U.S. with on-site
